Where are you?
⇔ Click on the photograph of my practice on the left for a map where you can
zoom in and out and click on the marker for my address.
My practice is in Yoxall about half way between Burton on Trent and Lichfield. It is near to Barton-under-Needwood and Alrewas. It is a small village on the A515 and only a few minutes from the main A38.

What's your practice like??
I work from a specially adapted part of my own home. It is a discreet and comfortable environment with off-road parking and, because I don't book end-to-end, you will not be kept waiting and you are not likely to meet other clients. There is a comfortable waiting room where an accompanying friend or relative can wait for you, or the village is quite pleasant to walk around.

How long does therapy take?
I'm afraid that this is the usual, "How long is a piece of string", answer at this stage. It is often possible, however, to have a very rough idea at our initial (free half hour) meeting, but not always. Sometimes just one session is required but more often at least two or three. I have worked with clients who have had over 30 sessions. Often issues can turn out to be more complex than you first thought.
It is fair to say, however, that there is nearly always some benefit after two or three counselling sessions and you can, of course, terminate these whenever you wish and you will have benefitted from it; even after the first free half-hour consultation.

Can you deal with my problem? - and -
How can you deal with so many different problems?
This is really because I deal with people, not problems. It is true that everyone is different and I am committed to helping you to resolve whatever is troubling you or to tell you immediately when I can't, and why. That is why I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation so that we can both decide whether to continue.

How do I know whether I can benefit?
Easy! If you have a willingness to genuinely consider changes to make yourself a happier person then you can, whoever you are. But I cannot, "make", you change. You had better accept that you can do it yourself, but more effectively with help and guidance.

Can I be hypnotised?
This is a similar answer to the last question. You certainly can if, and only if, you are willing to enjoy the experience. There is no magic in this. In the end all hypnotism is self-hypnotism and it is better with a guide.

Will I need to be hypnotised? What is it like?
Not if you don't want to be. Any therapy can proceed without hypnosis but it is such a powerful tool that you could liken therapy without hypnotism to a gardener working without a spade.
Sometimes it is not appropriate anyway and then it is, of course, not used.
For more information on what it's like please use the, "About Therapy", tab above.

Is it confidential?
Emphatically yes!
I have a legal obligation to disclose knowledge of intended crime or terrorism and I reserve the right to disclose information when I believe that doing so will prevent real harm being done to any person - and that's all.
Also, my practice is in a quiet village in a quiet cul-de-sac with off-road parking so the chances of you being seen by someone you know is very remote.

Do I really have a problem?
You may not see it as a problem but if you are interested in this question then I can probably help you to answer it. There does not have to be a, "problem", but you might like clarification on something that bothers you or improvement with some aspect of your life.

Do I have to be mad, insane, a "loony" or mentally ill etc?
Most certainly not; although some clients have wanted to reassure themselves that they are not any of these things.
I work with normal, sane people who have the insight to recognise that that there is something about their lives that causes some concern and that they can make changes for the better with the aid of counselling from an experienced helper.

Will I be cured?
The word, "cure", is more useful when talking about a medical illness or injury. Hypnotherapy can certainly be used effectively in these cases and alongside medical treatment to promote healing and relieve pain. The phrase "Changed for the better", is a more appropriate phrase to use here, however.
For most presented and underlying problems improvement is likely and a complete resolution is often achieved. There is nearly always some benefit.
Clients often reach a point where the, "problem", just seems to have dissolved and so has its memory; so they wonder why they started therapy in the first place. Clients sometimes report significant but undramatic changes for the better that happen, apparently of their own accord, whilst they are not actually in therapy.
It is important for you to know that you are a major part of the process where I am really just an experienced guide. I do not offer pills or medicines to fix physical problems. If this is what is required then I will refer you to your GP.
